I have worked as a Sports Massage Therapist ever since 1998, qualified at St Mary’s University College, and have been working in Elite Sport from that point onwards. In 2000 I started working in the Millennium Arena in Battersea Park where I now have my own clinic.
My main line of expertise is working with Track & Field Athletes, having originally worked at several athletics meetings including The Southern championships, AAA Senior, Junior and Under 23 Champs as well as various National Indoor meetings. I also worked with Daniel Caine’s for several of his warm weather trips as well as camps with UK Athletics and John Powell’s Track Speed 1. During this period I was the masseur for Thames Valley Harriers men’s British League Team.
In 2004 I started working for UK Athletics with lottery funded athletes in Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and then in 2006 got job with the English Institute Of Sport in St Mary’s Twickenham where I worked with UKA athletes and also athletes from multi sports.
Also during this time I have worked with
The London Broncos Rugby League Team
Dallanglio Flint off Cycle Slam 2012.
Blackheath & Bromley Athletics Club
▪ David Hayed World Boxing Champion!
▪ Elite National Canoeing Squad
▪ The England under 20’s Rugby Team at the World Cup in Wales 2008
I have also completed my Acupuncture Practitioners Organization (APO) foundation course in acupuncture for muscular skeletal disorders and am already treating some clients for relaxation as well as de–sensitizing muscles before their massage session, which allows me to do the required work. Acupuncture is also good for specific conditions, where I cause Chinese and Western techniques.
I’m also now using the Garston technique developed by I am Tools which is great for scar tissue and adhesions.
My clinic at the Battersea Millennium Arena runs from 4pmto 10pm every Wednesday and I’m also based in Streatham Common.
“I’ve used John Welsh’s Sports Massage Services for some years now, and I find him and his treatments very professional and thorough. I have and still do recommend John to anyone who asks me if I know a quality Sports Massage Therapist”.
